One of the great privileges of my career as a theatre producer has been the opportunity to mentor the next generation of theatrical talent.

For me, the most rewarding aspect of mentoring is discovering a young producer with imagination, determination, and potential — and then having the privilege of nurturing and guiding that talent through the challenges and opportunities of bringing productions to life.

As a member of the Stage One initiative, I have been fortunate to mentor many emerging producers. Equally meaningful have been the occasions when respected colleagues within the profession have approached me to support and guide particular individuals whose talent they recognised and whose development they wished to encourage.

At the beginning of my own career, I was the grateful recipient of wisdom, generosity, and encouragement from many distinguished members of the theatrical community. Their guidance shaped my understanding of the profession and helped me find my own path. To have the opportunity to offer that same support to others is both an honour and a responsibility — a way of continuing the tradition of generosity that has always been at the heart of theatre.

I am currently mentoring the exceptionally gifted young producer Ashley Cooke and look forward to continuing to support and encourage emerging voices in our industry.
